If you are hunting for the best offline iPhone games, you probably have a specific moment in mind: a long flight, a subway ride with no signal, or a data plan you would rather not touch. Every game below can be played without Wi-Fi or cellular data once it is downloaded, from quick arcade hoppers to 50-hour farming sims. Features such as multiplayer, leaderboards and cloud saves still need a connection, so we flag the ones where that applies.
A sandboarding run across a desert that never ends, with dunes to soar over, canyons to cross and long-hidden temples to explore. It is easy to pick up in a short session.
Each run is procedurally generated, and a list of goals plus a roster of playable characters keeps the next attempt feeling different. The pace is calm rather than frantic, which makes it one of the easier games here to pick up between flights.
2. Monument Valley 2
Monument Valley 2 – Official Release Trailer – out now
You guide a mother and her child through impossible architecture, rotating towers and sliding paths until a route appears. It is a sequel to the Apple Game of the Year 2014 winner, and it keeps the same illusion-based puzzle design.
The campaign is short, roughly an hour and a half, so it works as a single sitting on a flight rather than a long-term project. If you want hours of challenge for the money, look elsewhere on this list. If you want something calm and beautiful, this is it.
You inherit an overgrown farm, then grow crops, raise animals, customize your farmer and settle into village life. The iPhone version adds auto-save and touch-friendly control options built for mobile.
There are more than 50 hours of content, including a dozen potential marriage candidates, mines to explore and seasonal rhythms to plan around. That makes it the best fit here for a long trip or a weeks-long commute, though it asks for patience early on.
A roguevania platformer where you fight through an ever-changing castle as a failed alchemical experiment. Death is permanent, but the progression keeps each new run rewarding.
The mobile port by Playdigious supports MFi controllers, which helps because the combat is frantic. Touch controls take practice. If you dislike dying repeatedly, this is not the game for you.
5. Mini Metro
[iOS & Android] Mini Metro Gameplay by Dinosaur Polo Club
You design a subway map for a growing city, drawing lines between stations and redrawing them as new stops appear. Resources are limited, so every decision about where to send a train matters.
City growth is random, so no two games match, and there are more than two dozen real-world cities to try. The minimalist look makes it a relaxing pick, even if the difficulty rises as the city grows.
You evolve a pathogen from Patient Zero and try to wipe out humanity before the world builds a cure. Every choice about symptoms, transmission and resistance changes how governments respond.
The strategy is deeper than the premise suggests, and it rewards replays with different pathogen types and tactics. The subject matter is dark, so it may not suit everyone, but it is built for the iPhone and iPad.
A missing engineer and his wife lead you to the attic of Waldegrave Manor, where a strange dollhouse hides the next clue. Each room inside is a new environment full of locks, mechanisms and contraptions to manipulate by touch.
The tactile puzzle-box design is a good match for a touchscreen, and the mystery pulls you from one chapter to the next. It is not hard to start but gets tougher, so expect to get stuck now and then.
8. GRID Autosport
Official Grid Autosport (by Feral Interactive) Launch Trailer (iOS)
This time you play as the villain, helping Vez’nan reclaim his throne. You place towers, unlock new ones and command heroes in fights against bosses and waves of enemies.
There are 17 heroes you can level up, plus trinkets and reinforcements to tweak each stage. Levels are short enough for a quick session, yet the strategy has depth, which is why tower defense fans keep returning to the series.
10. Reigns
Reigns Official Trailer w/ Gameplay | Stadia, Switch, iOS, Android, PC
You rule a medieval kingdom by swiping cards left or right to accept or reject requests. Four resource bars (the church, the people, the army and the treasury) must stay balanced or your reign ends.
Each death unlocks more of the story, and a short run takes only a few minutes, so it fits tiny gaps in a travel day. The dark humor is the draw, but repeated decisions can start to feel samey after a long session.
A boy wakes in a dark, misty forest and searches for his sister. There is almost no dialogue or on-screen text, so the monochrome art and sound do the storytelling.
The puzzles lean on physics and trial and error, and failure is part of the design. It has won a long list of awards, and it is one of the more atmospheric games you can play without a signal. Younger players may find it unsettling.
An endless hopper that asks you to cross roads, train tracks and rivers without being flattened. Rounds last seconds, so it is easy to play in short bursts.
You can collect over 300 characters across more than two dozen worlds. It is the lightest game on this list, and a good option for a quick break.
A side-scrolling adventure through a dark forest where you tap to flap and keep a growing swarm of clones alive. Machines, traps and spinning hazards crowd the route.
It has picked up Apple’s iPad Game of the Year and Apple Design Award honors. The art style is striking, and the physics keep each level unpredictable. It is a strong pick if you like short, tense levels.
14. Evoland 2
Official Evoland 2 – iOS / Android – Teaser Trailer
A time-hopping adventure that swaps genres and art styles as the story moves forward, from 2D role-playing to 3D fighting, a shooter and a card game. Gaming history is the joke and the theme.
The constant change keeps the pacing fresh. It runs for many hours, and the story is lighthearted rather than serious. Players who never grew up on classic games will miss some references, but the variety still holds up.
You work as a border inspector in the fictional state of Arstotzka, checking documents against a growing list of rules. Your salary pays for your family’s rent, food and heat, so every wrong decision costs you.
It is built on moral choices as much as paperwork, and it carries a 17+ App Store age rating. It rewards careful reading over reflexes, and it is the heaviest game on this list in tone.
A pixel-art football game where you call the plays on the field and handle roster management, press duties and fragile egos off it. The retro style keeps the look simple and the games quick.
It needs no connection to play a season. It is a good option for armchair quarterbacks who want a season-long project without a signal.
18. Vampire Survivors
Vampire Survivors – Mobile Trailer | The Game Awards 2022
You mow down thousands of night creatures in a bullet-hell style roguelite. Gold from each run buys upgrades for the next survivor, and the goal is simply to last until dawn.
Weapons fire automatically, so you only steer, which suits a touchscreen. It also supports couch co-op for one to four players in landscape mode. Runs are short, which makes it easy to pick up and put down.
19. Good Pizza, Great Pizza
Good Pizza, Great Pizza Trailer – Pizza Business Simulator
You run a pizza shop, filling orders from customers while earning enough to keep the doors open. Upgrades for toppings and ovens help you compete with a rival pizzeria.
More than 80 customers each come with their own order and personality, and the pace stays friendly. It is an easy, low-stress game for kids and adults alike, and a good pick when you want something undemanding.
20. Minecraft
Minecraft – Official Vibrant Visuals and Chase the Skies Launch Trailer
The open-world builder lets you play in Creative mode with unlimited resources or in Survival mode, where you gather materials, craft tools and fend off monsters after dark.
Single-player worlds run without a connection, but multiplayer and cross-platform play need one. Treat it as an offline pick only if you stick to solo worlds. It is the longest-lasting game here if you enjoy making your own goals.

I'm Josh, and I build the top game lists on GameCuki, ranking the best games by genre, platform and year across PC, consoles, mobile, Roblox and the browser. I start by checking what the best-ranking lists for a topic include, then back every pick with data, such as player review scores and minimum system requirements from Steam for PC lists, and official game pages and player counts for Roblox lists. Each entry shows the facts first, then why the game made my list and any catch you should know about. I update my lists when new games arrive or requirements change. You can read my full process on our How We Review page.
